VENETI MOVEMENT MANIFEST
Our project originates from Venetian People, but it is open to all those people which shares with Venetian history and mentality. It originates from our history, but aims at the future. It originates from our daily needs, but it was thought for leading us faraway.
Venetian People Self-Determination Right Self-Determination, why?
1.
It is easier than other reforms to be realized. Venetian people Self-Determination is really easier than other autonomy forms to obtain. It is no more necessary to pass trough 2/3 parliamentary majorities (almost 700 parliamentarians on 1000) or absolute parliamentary majorities, followed by referendums approved by at least an half of Italians to reach autonomy or federalism. In order to obtain self-determination the majority of Venetians is simply necessary: a little less than 2 million votes instead of more than 25 million. Venetian People self-determination is legal A. Self-determination principle is a general and binding International Law Application, producing legal effects (rights and duties) for all the Countries Community. It came into force in our country with National Law nr. 881 dated 25th October 1977 (ratification and execution of New York Treaty), according to which: “All People have the right to self-determination. Under this right they freely decide about their political statute and freely pursue their economic, social and cultural development”. B. Venetian People receives his legal definition from article nr. 2 of National Law nr. 340 dated 22nd of May 1971, according to which: “The self-government of Venetian People is realized in forms in accordance with the characteristics and traditions of its own history”. C. Thanks to the National Law nr. 85 dated 24th of February 2006, it is allowed to express opinions and perform democratic acts in order to obtain the independence of land currently included in the country of which Venetia is part. VENETIA Venetia is the land inhabited since 3.000 years ago by Venetians and by populations with closer characteristics, so called since years before Christ. The first document arrived to present time with name Venetian is an inscription in Venetic language dated 4th Century B.C. Instead, the first written documents attesting the term Venetia come from Roman period, in the 2nd Century B.C., when Venetians are included into the Roman Empire, with Decima Regio, Venetia et Histria. When the Roman Empire falls down, Venetia is divided in little areas. Further it will be re-united thanks to the expansion of the city which had inherited its name, Venetia and then Venesia (Venice), which gave birth to Venetian Republic. Venetia geographic borders Venetia borders at East Slovenia and Croatia. We have considered the current borders between these countries and Italy, as they are the same Serenissima had in 1797. Also Trieste is includes, as Venetian from ethno-linguistic point of view, and geographic part of the first Venetia. At North we consider the borders with South Tirol and with Austria. The current area of Trentino, even if it was not part of Serenisma, is considered part as it was in the first Venetia, and because it is ethno-linguistic Venetian. At South we consider the borders of the current Veneto region; they are a little bigger than the ones of Serenissima, but also include Venetian ethno-linguistic areas belonging to the first Venetia. At West the matter is a little more complicated: · First Venetia included Brescia and Mantova areas, with the city of Cremona and the eastern part of Cremona areas; it did not included Bergamo area, city of Crema and the western part of Cremona areas. · It was practically bordered by Po river at South and Adda river at Easth. From Adda the border ran trough North till Serio river, going to North crossing Iseo Lake. · Serenissima included parts of Mantova areas, all areas of Brescia and Bergamo till Lodi, but not the city of Cremona.
Consequently, in the Western borders of Venetia the whole Brescia area is
included, since it was part both of the first Venetia and both of
Serenisima domain. Let’s add that ethno-linguistic maps consider as Venetian all Verona area and eastern part of Mantova area, till Pordenone at West. Brescia, Bergamo, Crema e Cremona are considered part of the “Orobic” linguistic group, originating from Gallic language. Istria is not included due to the following reasons: during first Venetia it was defined a san independent area called Histria; it was then part of Serenissima and Istro-Venetian ethno-linguistic communities still exist in its coast areas; but they are really a minority community against Slovenian and Croatian, due to what happened during the Second World War.
